About Readoption
We have had people ask us some questions about the readoption we did for Alex. Alex has her U.S citizenship paper, U.S. passport, and social security number but her birth certificate was in Chinese. It has a translation with it but this would make it difficult later in life to get important documents. There would be much confusion and explaining to do so we did the readoption and this allows us to get an Ohio birth certificate for Alex. I don't know if you absolutely have to do it but you have to do it to get the birth certificate. It was actually fairly easy. I made a phone call to the Franklin County Probate court. They sent the paperwork. I filled it out and took it there and payed the fees and they give you a court date and then we (all 3 of us) went before the judge and were sworn in. We talked with the judge about Alex and she approved the paperwork and Voila we are able to get the birth certificate. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be.
